Swiss medtech companies can now use the firstbase GDSN data pool to publish product master data directly in a single solution to both commercial trading partners such as hospitals and regulatory databases worldwide. Data is entered once and published, for example, to EUDAMED - the UDI Connector takes care of the rest. This eliminates the need for intensive manual multiple entries in different portals.

From 2026, reporting up to 100 attributes per product to EUDAMED will be mandatory. At the same time, Switzerland is introducing swissdamed, a national database that requires double registration. In the US, GUDID has already been established for years.

For manufacturers and other stakeholders in relevant roles, this means increased effort, different formats, and a higher potential for errors. Many still work with parallel systems, manual uploads, or additional Excel lists - processes that cost time, compromise data quality, and jeopardize compliance.

Publication in the GDSN automatically transmits the UDI data records to the relevant UDI databases. Response messages confirm the successful registration of each data record.

Looking ahead

We are currently working intensively on the solution in an MVP phase until the end of the year. A proof of concept was successfully completed in the summer. The first UDI connections for EUDAMED and GUDID will be available from the beginning of 2026. Once activated, the connection to swissdamed will also be implemented. Further connectors - for Australia or China, for example - will follow. This will not only ensure short-term compliance, but also long-term prospects for the future.

EUDAMED is ready. You can transfer your data from firstbase to EUDAMED via UDI Connector.
